As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Infosys BPM is committed to empowering disadvantaged youth by providing them employability skills and providing quality education to rural government school students by setting up digital classrooms. Our award-winning CSR initiatives have managed to bring change to over 300,000 students from various backgrounds.
Helping build an inclusive and sustainable future, by bridging the digital divide, enhancing employability skills, creating new opportunities, and uplifting communities.
To raise aspirations by igniting young minds
To enhance employability through skill development programs
Project Genesis, a flagship program of Infosys BPM CSR, is a talent sustainability initiative of Infosys BPM aimed at bringing the teaching and course curriculum of graduate schools in tier 2, 3 & 4 towns up to the industry requirement, so that the students gain an edge in terms of employability. This is facilitated by training faculty members on the Global Business Foundation Skills (GBFS). We work with like-minded universities and government organizations across the country.
NASSCOM in association with Indian BPM industry majors have developed the Global Business Foundation Skills Program with an objective of bridging the skill gap.
The principal conclave aims to equip senior academicians and HODs with industry insights, key future skills, and the knowledge to navigate the evolving educational landscape. We enable them to be proficient in integrating AI and augmented reality in the teaching methodologies and help them transfer this knowledge effectively to students, fostering a thriving academic environment. Principal conclave enables HODs to prepare students with the skills and aptitude needed to adapt to and succeed in the ever-evolving job market.
Key aspects of our GBFS Faculty Development Program are below:
In FY’19, we introduced a 3-day FDP on domain skills like finance and accounting, sourcing and procurement and digital marketing. The objective of domain specific FDPs is to share industry perspectives, academic knowledge, practical application of knowledge, career options available in the domain, etc.
This is a 15-day program for graduating students and unemployed graduates in tier 2 and 3 and from economically weaker section and for people with disabilities. The focus is on communication skills, employability skills and quantitative aptitude which prepare them for employment opportunities.
As a further step to providing exposure to students from small towns, Infosys BPM organizes connect programs for the students from our partnering colleges and universities to create awareness about the BPM industry and the opportunities it offers, what kind of skills are required and how one can become corporate ready. The program ignites their minds and raises the aspirations of these students from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to dream big and make a career in large organizations like ours.
With the help of our NGO partners, we have set up digital learning infrastructure in rural schools. The NGOs use this infrastructure to enable volunteering teachers from across the world to take classes for the school children, thereby increasing the exposure and awareness of the students. Simultaneously, it helps augment the teaching provided in the schools. We have set up this infrastructure in various schools in Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh reaching out to close to 5000 children every year. Some of our employees also volunteer to teach the students virtually.
In addition to our skill development initiatives, we encourage all of our employees to donate to social causes. Our employees regularly contribute their might by donating generously to various social causes like orphanages and old age homes. They have donated stationery kits, medical kits, and food to various government/NGO supported institutions.
Our programs have been recognized at the international and national levels. Some of the forums where the program has been received include the National Outsourcing Association, NHRD, American Society for Training & Development (ATD), AIMA, World HRD Congress, NASSCOM, and national seminars at various universities and National Institute of Rural Development.
