Infosys BPO wins excellence award at the 5th BPM and Shared Services Conclave 2015

Infosys BPO won an award for ‘Effective Business Process Transformation for a client by BPO’, at the 5th BPM & Shared Services Conclave 2015. This conclave organized by the Shared Services Forum (SSF) was held on November 27th 2015, at the ITC Sheraton New Delhi.

Infosys BPO's winning case study demonstrated value-delivery by displaying the work done for the Income Tax department of the Government of India. The processes involved managing sub-ledgers for 140 million individual accounts for all the taxpayers in India.

Through effective BPM, Infosys BPO scaled up processing of income tax returns from 40 lakh returns (per year) in 2010 to 307 lakh returns (per year) in 2015. This was achieved with a reduction in processing cycle time from 14 months in 2009 to 38 days at present. Further, process optimization resulted in reduced number of rectification applications from 7.5 percent of total returns in the year 2010 to 0.75 percent of total returns in the year 2015.

The Shared Services Forum (SSF), initiated in 2011, is an interactive platform where industry experts from diverse business domains and support functions, ideate on Business Process Management (BPM) excellence. With a focus on leadership, consolidation, transformation, and effective tools and systems, the forum creates and disseminates knowledge for excellence in BPM.

The forum presents the Shared Services and BPM Excellence Awards to SSCs and BPM companies who have excelled in various categories. An independent jury panel comprising practitioners with proven experience and expertise in BPM and services nominates winners based on how effectively they assess strategies and goals of the company operations and their ability to identify / implement key strategic drivers. The forum tries to ascertain the potential of companies in delivering value to all stakeholders – customers, employees, and shareholders.
