Infosys BPM partners with HFS Research to bring out an insightful study on transitions

Infosys BPM is pleased to announce its collaboration with HFS Research on a comprehensive market impact report titled “Fix the baton pass: Transitions will make or break enterprise models.”

The report offers valuable insights into the role of transitions evolved from being just operational events or transfers to a key operational model in the Software-as-Software (SaS) era. Led by a distinguished team of researchers from HFS Research – Ashwin Venkatesan, Ian Maher, and Biswadeep Ghosh Hazra – and with contributions from Raja V from Infosys BPM, the study was released in November 2025.

A survey jointly conducted by HFS Research and Infosys BPM, covering 153 business and functional leaders and 152 transition management team leaders from GCCs and service providers, reveal that transitions are not meeting strategic expectations for either enterprises or their transition partners. Given this context, the research underscores the need for stronger co-ownership, design discipline, and trust across all involved parties —from enterprises to internal GCCs or shared services teams and outsourcing providers.

Listing out six structural failures that undermine transition success and the steps to address them, the report lays out a transition playbook designed to guide both enterprise leaders and transition management teams in building co-owned, future-ready operating models.
