Manufacturing operation support services

With advancements in automation and digital manufacturing, manufacturers are looking to optimize costs through value engineering and process transformation. While keeping the focus on core operation, manufacturers are engaging with partners to improve their operational support process.

Infosys BPM supports manufacturers across the full operational stack from should costing and production planning to manufacturing quality management, MRO parts and tooling, and MES support for machining, assembly, and fabrication. Leveraging our diverse workforce and local market and supply channel knowledge, we help manufacturers scale operations without scaling overhead.

Line

Where manufacturing operations support breaks down

Manufacturers under cost pressure often try to absorb operational support work internally quality documentation, MRO tracking, production planning alongside core manufacturing responsibilities. The result is usually the same: documentation falls behind, tooling and parts visibility gets fragmented across systems, and planning teams spend more time reconciling data than acting on it.

Infosys BPM takes that operational support off your team's plate without taking away control. We work across should costing, planning, quality, MRO, safety, and MES support so your core teams stay focused on manufacturing, not on the administrative weight around it.

Our offerings

Our manufacturing operation support spans eight core areas — from cost engineering and analytics through to documentation, planning, quality, MRO, safety, and MES support. Each is designed to work independently or as part of a broader operational transformation, so manufacturers can engage where the need is greatest without committing to a full operating model overhaul.

  1. Should costing

Determine the right cost of a product based on raw material, manufacturing process routing, packaging, overheads, and manufacturing tooling using product cost models / should cost tools.

  2. Manufacturing analytics and performance management

    • Business warehouse and manufacturing services reports execution, delivery, and administration
    • Generate reports for planning, inventory, delivery, quality, equipment performance, labor, cost, warehouse, etc.
    • Data management i.e., data cleaning, and data warehouse query modification.
    • Root cause analysis to identify gaps and improve performance.
  3. Manufacturing documentation support

    • Create process sheets and standard work documents with details on the steps, key quality points, cycle times, visual aids, and safety score for assembling / manufacturing a product.
    • Develop and maintain visual aids.
    • Manage product data (part attributes, EBOM, MBOM, other manufacturing / quality docs) and related masters to support NPI and ongoing process improvements.
    • Create an in-plant logistics plan (PFEP).
  4. Production planning and control

    • MPS support.
    • Interplant and subcontractor planning support.
    • MRP support.
    • Inventory planning support.
  5. Manufacturing quality management

    • Develop PFMEA documents.
    • Quality information system data analysis for corrective and preventive actions.
    • Supplier quality assurance support for Bought in Finish parts inspection and approval.
    • Quality certification support i.e., audits.
  6. MRO parts and tooling management

    • Tools management (generate the required estimated demand, provide procurement support, create document for tool transfer, track tool inventory, and provide tool health status update in ERP / equivalent system).
    • MRO parts management (MRO parts audit, part analytics and reporting, returns management and cost recovery, procurement, logistics support, demand planning support and replenishment planning support).
  7. Employee health and safety (EHS) support

    • Create and update material safety data sheets (MSDS).
    • Develop and maintain safety and operation documents.
    • Safety audits as per EHS regulations.
  8. MES support

    • Machining: CNC programming, process drawing creation, tool data management, machine shop modeling & Simulation
    • Assembly: Digital SOP’s/work instructions, animation for assemblies, ergonomic analysis and validation, assembly clearance analysis (Go-No go), plant modeling/ flow analysis and simulation
    • Tool and fixture design:
      • Concept and detail design of assembly, fabrication & machining fixtures, lifting devices and racks
      • 3D modeling & detailing of fixtures, lifting devices and racks
      • Part containerization optimization for export & domestic shipment
    • Fabrication and welding: Stock sizing & master data management, operator method sheet creation, Laser programming and nesting, weld ergonomic analysis

Challenges and solutions for manufacturing support services

Our manufacturing operation support spans should costing, manufacturing analytics and performance management, documentation support, production planning and control, quality management, MRO parts and tooling management, employee health and safety support, and MES support across machining, assembly, tool and fixture design, and fabrication and welding.

Yes. Our should costing service determines the right cost of a product based on raw material, manufacturing process routing, packaging, overheads, and manufacturing tooling, using product cost models and should-cost tools.

We support the full operational stack, not just documentation. That includes production planning and control covering MPS support, interplant and subcontractor planning, MRP support, and inventory planning support alongside our documentation, quality, and MRO services.

Our MES support covers machining (CNC programming, process drawing creation, tool data management, machine shop modelling and simulation), assembly (digital SOPs, ergonomic analysis, plant modelling and simulation), tool and fixture design, and fabrication and welding (stock sizing, operator method sheets, weld ergonomic analysis).

Yes. We create and update material safety data sheets (MSDS), develop and maintain safety and operation documents, and support safety audits in line with EHS regulations.
